I am poetry
I say things best
by not saying them
with twisting and writhing
of words and tongues
I am prose. Straightforward and hardworking, I say what needs to be said without the descriptive mess of words that confuse body and mind.
I am poetry,
seen as clever and captivating
in my alleged allegorical
alliance to alliteration,
among others
of similar pedigree
I am proud to be prose. I too can be clever and witty, and use all your rhetorics, dramatics and devices. I embrace all peoples, classes and languages, and in turn they are faithful to me.
I am always poetic;
I predate your stony scratches
in vedas and epics,
love and war
living on tongues and escaping teeth
to survive in the hearts of men.
I see where you are going with this, poetry, but I have you there! I am the most beloved of people, they think me, they speak me, they print me in distinguished papers, journals, encyclopdias and essays. I can be serious in philosophy, or funny and affectionate in letters; they sky is never my limit.
Ha! You will eventually admit
my undoubtable wit
and undeniable charm
if I have to bend your metaphorical arm!
I have rhythm, I have rhyme
I follow a beat, I keep time
I can trick you into feeling any emotion
until I have your complete devotion!
I can sense we will never agree. Let us come together, a metaphorical sexing of the cherry tree, and give birth anew. Oh what a grand idea! Our child shall roam Wilde and free, forever Wright in whatever convictions she may hold. Never will she fear the clarity of the moon on still nights, or the tangled jungle of words to ensnare the hearts of all!
